Mondello Rallycross Oct 18th 2009
Fine dry weather, a big entry and a good crowd of spectators made for a great first Mondello round
of the 2009/2010 Irish rallycross Championship.
Tommy Graham won the Superfinal after pole sitter and early leader Christopher Evans retired
his Opel. In an eventful race Evans, Mike Manning and David James all retired leaving Mad Mark to finish 2nd from
the sensational Ian O'Connell on his first outing in the Lotus Exige. They were followed home by Michael Coyne and
Kieran Curran.
In the Supercar A final Evans won from Manning and pole sitter Graham. David Dempsey won the B
final.
In the modified class, O'Connell was a bit slow off the line from pole but when Byrne and McArdle went wide at
the first corner he swept into an impressive lead to take the win. Michael Coyne was 2nd from McArdle in the R5
from Curran, Tierney, Grimes and Byrne. B final winner Brendan Coyne retired off the line with his Fiesta.
Niall Murray won Juniors in a Starlet and Gordon Lynch won Stock Hatch.
